2020 NOMINATIONS FOR PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. (ACMHN) is seeking nominations for positions on the Board of Directors, as either a Director or the President, from members with a strong desire to advance the profession of mental health nursing. Being a Board Director offers you the opportunity to guide the growth and recognition of the ACMHN as the professional body representing mental health nurses.

As a membership-based organisation operating as an Incorporated Association under the Associations Act of South Australia, 1985, the responsibility of the Board of Directors is to realise the purpose, obligations, and potential of the organisation as well as to abide by our Constitution, and the governance, legal and fiduciary requirements of Directors.

The ACMHN is governed by a Board of Directors, comprising the College President, five additional Board Directors, and the Chair of the Council of Branches, with the option to appoint two independent Board Directors to provide skills not available from other Board Directors.

In order to continue our work in strengthening the sector and advocating for mental health nursing, we need a strong skilled Board of Directors to strategically lead the organisation into the future, adhering to the principles of good corporate governance. In this regard, we require committed individuals with exceptional skills across a number of domains including governance, leadership, marketing, financial management and risk management. As a Board with a strong focus on good governance, we also require high level skills and understanding of strategic planning, thinking and oversight. To facilitate this, we provide ongoing mentoring, guidance and support so that our Board remains progressive, insightful, resilient and productive.

I encourage you to read the Board and President Position Descriptions available via the ACMHN website and consider if this is a role for you. Contributing to the growth of our organisation has been a very rewarding experience for me.

Financial members of the College are eligible to nominate for a position on the Board of Directors. The nomination pack for positions on the Board of Directors, as either a Director or the President, can be obtained through emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
